Deepika Padukone Proposes To Salman Khan

What a Tamasha!

Yesterday, 9xe told you about Deepika Padukone's twin-agenda visit to Bigg Boss 9.

The first is, of course, promoting her upcoming film -- Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha -- single-handedly on the reality show. With Salman Khan being the host, it's not surprising that hero Ranbir Kapoor didn't make an appearance .

The hidden purpose, we told you, was to check Dippy's 'Chemistry Meter' with Sallu for YRF's biggie, Sultan.

Well, must say Mastani and Bajrangi Bhaijaan made a stunning pair.

The actress even proposed to the Bollywood superstar like a head-over-heels-in-love guy. She went down on her knees and popped the question (look at the pic right at the top).

Salman, of course, gave the same answer we suspect he must have given all his girlfriends till now: "Yeh nahi hua hai aur nahi ho sakta hai kabhi."

Though he 'rejected' her marriage proposal, the two had fun on stage. They grooved to 'Main Hoon Hero Tera' (Hero) and 'Matargashti' (Tamasha).

Deepika looked pretty relaxed on the stage with Salman, as she she sat down cross-legged on the floor, to interact with him and the audience.

While on the show, she became 'Bigg Boss' for a day and gave the housemates plenty of fun instructions.

Deepika also spent time inside the house with the contestants.

I think you need one talent to survive a lifetime. I think maybe Im multi-talented but Im not a good multi-tasker for sure. I can just do one thing at a time, Ayushmann told IANS over phone.
The actor, who is currently busy working on his upcoming single Yahin hun main, added that all his attention is on singing and acting as of now.

Randeep Hooda : No one turned Ram after watching Ramayan

No one turned Ram after watching Ramayan-Inside Bollywood
Randeep Hooda, who essayed Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma with arresting arrogance in Rang Rasiya, will soon be seen as the real-life notorious serial killer Charles Sobhraj in Main Aur Charles.
While he says the Charles film does not glorify crime, the actor also stressed that watching films does not lead the youth to anything wrong.
Known for his straightforward nature, Randeep remained to the point when he was asked if Main Aur Charles glorifies crime in any way.
He said: We have not glorified crime in the film. I dont think the youth of the country take up the wrong path after watching movies. No one turned Ram after watching Ramayan, and nobody turned Gandhi after watching Munnabhai M.B.B.S.. So how come any one will turn into Charles after watching the film? The film is for entertainmentcome and just get entertained.
Randeep has worked hard for the film, and says Charles Sobhrajs character is one that he has known since he was much younger.
We came to know about this man from the newspapers. When I was 10 or 12 years old, I heard about the name Sobhraj since childhood, we knew this man is very glamorous. Amitabh Bachchan also benefited from him. The famous Don movie dialogue 11 mulko ki police mujhe dhoondh rahi hai was inspired from Charles Sobhrajs life, he added.
Charles Sobhraj is currently in a jail in Nepal, having been convicted for his numerous brutal murders in the 1970s. He was even convicted and jailed in India from 1976 to 1997.
His story is being brought alive on the big screen by director Prawaal Raman. The film will release on October 30.

Katrina Kaif : Fitoor ignited passion in me as an actor

katrina_kaif
Actress Katrina Kaif says her forthcoming film Fitoor re-inspired her and ignited the passion in her as an actor.
Fitoor is a script I fell in love with the moment I heard it. I was very excited and passionate about it. When I started working on the film, we initially went slow, then I started understanding things, Katrina told PTI.
I have learnt so much from the film. It has re-inspired me ignited the passion in me as an actor. It is like a new journey for me as an actor. If I could go back and live everyday on the set, I would, she said.
Earlier, the Abhishek Kapoor-directed film had veteran actress Rekha, but instead of her Tabu is now doing the movie.
Katrina said she had a memorable experience working with Rekha.
I got few days to work with her. I always had a great connection with her. She had been amazingly friendly, warm person. We are saddened that it did not work out. Every film has its destiny and we respect that.
I have seen Rekha quite a few times. So when she came on sets we had a warm connection. As a performer as work everyone is a fan of her. I was very respectful towards her.
Since we knew each other so it was a close connection, she said.
The Namastey London actress will be seen with Siddharth Malhotra in Nitya Mehras Baar Baar Dekho.
Nityas film is an amazing love story. It is an idea that shocked me when I first heard it. I have not seen or heard a film like this in long time. Most of the love stories are of similar types, but this seemed new and exciting. There is lot of performance in it, she said.
Both Katrina and Siddharth will go for prosthetics for getting a certain look for the film.
It (prosthetics) is there for a small portion in a film. Like in Barfi, when they (Ranbir and Priyanka) are growing old and dying so you wont say it is a film using prosthetics. It is used in a small portion in the film. There is a very small portion (growing old) that comes towards the end of the film, Katrina said.

Shah Rukh Khan : I miss Kajol in every film

Shah Rukh Khan
Their friendship translates into great chemistry film after film and Shah Rukh Khan, who is reuniting with Kajol after five years in Dilwale, says he misses working with the actress in all his movies as she is magical on-screen.
One of the most loved Bollywood pairs, Shah Rukh and Kajol just celebrated 20 years of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge by recreating the iconic poster on the sets of Dilwale and the 49-year-old actor thinks it was a co-incidence that brought them together in the Rohit Shetty-directed action-comedy.
I miss Kajol in every film. With this film she gave us 150 days. She had to be away from her children and I know it is a huge sacrifice for a parent.
We are restless people who want to do more films, earn more money but Kajol is a rested soul. She doesnt care about these things. We are thankful that she took time out for this movie, Shah Rukh said in a interview with a select group of journalists on the sets of the film.
SRK-Kajol have collaborated in Baazigar, Karan-Arjun, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham and My Name is Khan.
They may be great friends now but SRK did not have a good impression about Kajol when he first met her.
When I was working with her in Baazigar, Aamir asked me about her as he wanted to work with her. I left him a message saying, She is very bad, no focus, you will not be able to work with her. And then I saw the rushes in the evening. I kept callin Aamir to clarify. I told him, I dont know what it is but she is magical on the screen.
Kajol is not technical, she is an honest actor and thats a great quality. My daughter (Suhana) wants to become an actress and I would want her to learn that. I hope I learn that from Kajol. I cant explain but she is something else on screen.
Shah Rukh, who is also the producer of the movie, is working round-the-clock to finish shooting Dilwale for its scheduled release on December 18. The film also stars Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Johnny Lever, Boman Irani, Varun Sharma, Sanjay Mishra and Pankaj Tripathi among others.
With a generous dose of action, comedy, nostalgia-inducing romance between SRK-Kajol, the movie, judging by the rushes that were screened for the press, seems to be a typical Rohit Shetty entertainer.

Shah Rukh Khans birthday resolution : Will do three films a year

Shahrukh khan
For over two decades, the magic of his acting, persona and charm has regaled Bollywood buffs, and the saga continues. Shah Rukh Khan, who turns 50 on November 2, said that last year he was a little lazy by just doing one film. But now, the superstar says he has pledged to do three films in a year on an average as soon as he completes the first half century of his life.
I want to do as many films as possible before I die, the 49-year-old said on a light note to a few invited media representatives on the sets of Dilwale at Ramoji Film City here.
It has been four to five years that I have become producer we made Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Om Shanti Om and they took a lot of time. I started feeling that in the last one year, I am not doing much films that I can actually do. I am just doing one film in a year, and Im feeling lazy.
I want to do different roles. So, I decided that from the age of 50-55, I want to do 15 very nice films and that will include popular films, offbeat films, mad films and many more. I will do many different films. I want to do three films a year. Ek film mein mann ke liye karna chahta hu, ek tann ke liye aur ek dhan ke liye (I want to do one film for the mind, one for my physical capability and one for money), he added.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, Dilwale, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, will see the magical pair of Shah Rukh and Kajol coming together again on the silver screen, and recreating their onscreen chemistry.
A dekko of that was given to the scribes invited to the set, which seemed like its being used as SRKs home in the movie. The walls had photographs of the Badshah of Bollywood, with Varun Dhawan, who plays a key character in the film.
Shah Rukh, along with other cast members of the film, offered a sneak peak into the film with a 20-minute video footage.
It created a long-lasting impact with scenes that included a song sequence shot with SRK and Kajol in Iceland; an action sequence of SRK; few comic scenes involving Johnny Lever, Sudhir Mishra and Varun Sharma, and of course, scenes and songs featuring Varun and Kriti Sanon.
The team has been shooting the last leg of the film in Hyderabad for a month.

Shahid Kapoor Was nervous to work with father

shahid

Shahid Kapoor, who will be seen for the first time alongside his father Pankaj Kapur in Vikas Bahls romantic comedy film Shaandaar, which released on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra on Thursday, says he was very nervous while sharing screen space with the veteran actor but later had fun shooting with him.
I was very nervous to work with him but my dad is very kind. So he helped me feel more comfortable and after a couple of days we both had fun, Shahid told IANS here.
He doesnt have any expectations. I hope Ive lived up to Vikas expectations because he is the person whom Im trying to live up to in any way. With dad it was an honour to share screen space with him, the 34-year-old added.
Asked whether he saw any hidden talent in her while working in Shaandaar, Shahid said: Her talent is not hidden, its there for the world to see. Shes so talented and so good. She good this role by auditioning for it on her own merit. So, Im very proud of her.
Shaandaar also stars actress Alia Bhatt. The romantic comedy is Shahids first film after his marriage to city-based girl Mira Rajput in July.
The Kaminey actor said that he didnt do quirky and entertaining love stories after Jab We Met because it was rare to find content which is unique and fresh in this space.
But with Shaandaar, he felt all the characters were new and the world that he (Vikas) wanted to create of destination wedding was quite fairytalish.
Its something which Ive never experienced before in films. Its a movie that is accessible to everybody, he added.
Shahid also said that after doing a intense and dark film like Haider, Shaandaar was a perfect change for him.
After having done a film like Haider, which is very intense and dark, it was the best and biggest possible change that I could make to go from a genre like Haider to a film like Shaandaar. Ive a lot of faith in Vikas as a director. I feel he is extremely talented, he said.
Talking more about Shaandaar, he said the film has been shot in different castles.
Its a destination wedding film. I remember a lot of my friends coming and telling me about some of really funny things which happened whenever they used to go for a destination wedding.
Its a very entertaining destination to be in whenever you are in a destination wedding scenario. It brings out all the quirk that can happen most in a situation like that.
Is he keen about showing Shaandaar to his wife Mira?
I shot Shaandaar before I got married. This is the first film of mine that Mira would be seeing. So I hope that she really likes it and hope that it comes out as a good one, he added.

Shaandaar Movie Review

shaandaarposter

The big fat Indian wedding on which Vikas Bahls Shaandaar hinges is as breezy and boisterous as any that has ever been conjured up by Bollywood.

But there is one marked difference here the rituals go offshore, and off-kilter, in quest of untapped locations and bursts of hilarity.

In Shaandaar, the free-wheeling qualities of a modern-day fable meet the flamboyant and filmi flights of a KJo romance.

The director also throws in animated flashbacks (with a voiceover by Naseeruddin Shah) to accentuate the films fairy tale impulses.

It has all the ingredients of a parable an orphan princess trapped in a loveless home, a prince charming who flies in from nowhere, and a cranky old man who dotes on his daughter to the point of distraction.

And there of course is a bad-tempered grandmother and a scheming mom who make every effort to make the adopted girls life miserable.

But the spunky orphan isnt one to give up without a fight. She not only has a dad who stands up for her no matter what, she also bonds big time with her half-sister.

Despite the Karan Johar making an appearance to take good-natured digs at his own brand of entertainment, Shaandaar does not shy away from going the whole hog.

While the results are at best mixed, the glitches that pop up along the way do not do too much harm to the films genial jauntiness.

It is aided by blithe directorial touches, flashes of smart writing (screenplay: Anvita Dutt Guptan) that yield some magnificently zany sequences, and a slew of energetic performances.

Even when Shaandaar flags a touch for want of sustained narrative force, especially in the second half, it is firmly propped up by the infectious joy and vigour that the actors bring to the table.

The two leads Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt achieve spontaneous chemistry and Pankaj Kapur holds the balance with restrained flair.

The acting oscillates between the impressively modulated and the overly unbridled.
The mismatch serves to underscore the sharp divide between the two business families that are about to be yoked together by a marriage of brazen convenience.

At one end of the spectrum is the XL-size Isha (debutante Sanah Kapoor), the elder daughter of the possessive Vipin Arora (Pankaj Kapur), scion of a Punjabi business empire on its last legs.

This family is headed by a hell-raising matriarch, Kamla Arora (Sushma Seth), who keeps her three sons on a tight leash.

The bridegroom, the beefy and boorish Robin (Diljit Dosanjh), is the son of a garrulous, golden gun-toring Sindhi tycoon Harry Fandwani (Sanjay Kapoor) whose mouth moves faster than his brain.

From the moment the marriage party arrives at an imposing castle in the English countryside, all caution is thrown to the wind on both sides.

The outcome ranges from moments of rib-tickling mayhem to a few dull passages that meander aimlessly.

But Shaandaar isnt just about marriage and business deals the destination wedding is only the backdrop to many mini mutinies, which includes the brewing romance between the cocky wedding organiser Jagjinder Joginder (Shahid Kapoor) and the brides sprightly sister Alia (Alia Bhatt).

The two lovers are both insomniacs, and the girl, who is gifted dreams etched on little chits by her doting father in the hope that she will catch sleep some day, makes common cause with the defiant JJ in pursuit of the pleasures that she is deprived of.

It is a big ask for the lead actor to keep pace with the skills of his real-life dad, but Shahid not only puts his best foot forward in most scenes, he also does not let the strain of the heavy lifting show.

Alia, too, is delightfully pitch perfect in the way she tackles the role of a bright spark with the ability to wrap anybody and everybody around her little finger.

The clash of an assortment of oddballs in this exotic location generates a fair amount of noise in the background.

The unlikely pair of JJ and Alia are therefore compelled to resort to the quirkiest of means to skirt around the obstacles placed in their way.

A lively slate of songs, the handiwork of the composer-lyricist pair of Amit Trivedi and Amitabh Bhattacharya, bolsters the peppy nature of the film.

In the climactic wedding song Raitaa phail gaya, Bhattacharya throws in a teasing line that goes Gulzar ki geeton mein Honey Singh kaise ghus gaya?

Viewed in the context of the film as a whole, that quirky question points to the direction in which Bahl really wants to take Shaandaar

Shaandaar is neither Gulzar nor Honey Singh it is a creature that is uniquely, and delicately, poised in a zone between the excesses of an average wedding film and an overly cynical spoof of that genre.

Shaandaar isnt Queen either it does not have the overarching spirit of rebellion that defined Bahls previous film.

It is a genre drama laced with enough wit and sharpness to keep the audience interested in the shenanigans of its likeably goofy characters.

Shaandaar is a fun film that is infused with great charm, which in turn is enhanced by director Bahls panache for a light touch, an attribute that was on full show in Queen.

While it does not live up to its title as a package, it fulfils much of the expectations that the audience might have from a film produced jointly by Karan Johar on the one hand and Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap on the other.

It brings together two different worlds and succeeds in striking a balance between the two. For that, and for much else, Shaandaar deserves hearty ovation.

Need more experience in filmdom to do TV show, says Alia Bhatt

alia-bhattWhile many Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Shahid Kapoor have tasted success in the telly world, actress Alia Bhatt feels she needs many more years in the Indian film industry to do a TV show.
The Highway actress says TV requires a lot of body of work.
For me to do a TV show you need a lot of body of work. Like for Amit-ji (Amitabh Bachchan), he is a superstar, who can hold that together. For me, I need many more years in the Indian film industry to hold a TV show together, Alia, who has appeared on TV mostly for film promotions, told IANS.
You need a big body of work to hold a TV show on your shoulders. Its not in terms of shooting length. Its for you to be well known and well appreciated by fans so that you can hold a TV show, added the 22-year-old, who stars alongside Shahid Kapoor in filmmaker Vikas Bahls romantic comedy Shaandaar, which released on Thursday on the occasion of Dussehra.
Apparently, Alia signed Shaandaar much before she did Highway and Bahl came into limelight with Kangana Ranaut starrer Queen.
Asked what urged her to take up this film, Alia explained: What I really liked about the concept is that Vikas came to me with only five lines. He said that its a love story of two insomniacs, there is a destination wedding, there are some four characters that seem completely crazy to me.
The world that he was describing turned out very fairytale type where there were castles, horses, stars and dragonflies. I felt that the world was unique. The story was entertaining, fun and sweet. Also, there was this father-daughter relationship between Pankaj (Kapur) sir and me, which I found very interesting, she added.
Alia also described Shaandaar as the first-time destination wedding film in India.
We all are very well aware that Shaadi (wedding) films do really well in our Indian film industry. Shaadi is such an important moment for all of us in our lives. We really go all out to celebrate a wedding.
Destination wedding people have not really touched upon. There is always Shaadi, but not like the one we are showing in the film, where all of us go to a destination and live under one roof. This is something that Vikas has touched upon for the first time, she added.
Asked whether she would be marrying someone from the film fraternity or would like to tie the knot to someone from a non-filmy background just like Shahid, Alia, who earlier regarded 31 as the right for marriage, said: I think time will tell. I cant predict the future at this moment.
